In my opinion, the fact that people are pretentious and exclusive about this kind of thing really throws me off. Trust me, I am not one to be a hoarder of information, and that is what creates division within communities. If you are so threatened by the fact that somebody with a camera phone and a photo filter might be able to take a better picture than you, maybe the solution isn’t to complain about it waste your energy doing that, but maybe the solution is to get better at taking photos, or to pick up your ambition in some other way. Or, just to specialize and be the best at what you are. If you’ve never had success as a photographer, and now you’re complaining about the fact that people with cell phones are having more success than you, the problem isn’t that person in their cell phone, the problem is you. I have been a professional photographer, and I will still use a good cell phone photo with a photo filter every now and then, because they look just as good a lot of the time. No, some of them don’t capture as much specific detail as some lenses on a good camera, but that’s not the point of a cell phone camera. This point of the cell phone cameras to be comprehensive and Broad, and be able to catch anything decently, rather than specialized. I love photography, I love apps that allow me to engagement photography at a higher level, whether that’s through providing photo filters or providing a market for me to sell my Snaps as potential stock photos. Whatever it is, I appreciate it, and I appreciate the accessibility that these apps and products are bringing, making photography a practice that more and more people can learn to appreciate and perform.
